Oscar Mauricio Carrillo Viveros

Born in Bucaramanga - Colombia, he started his musical studies, studying the violin at the Fundación Nacional Batuta (National Foundation Batuta - National System of Children and Youth Orchestras in Colombia) and music theory at the Instituto Municipal de Cultura (Municipal Institute of Culture). Later he entered the music program at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (Industrial University of Santander “UIS”) and studied the violin with the professors Andrey Lechowsky and Irina Litvin. He obtained the title of Bachelor of Music with an emphasis on violin in 2011. That same year, along with other colleagues and professor Eduardo Berrio, he founded the Fundación Filarmónica de Santander (Santander Philharmonic Foundation); in the framework of this initiative, they founded the chamber orchestra Kammerton Mussicum. There he played the violin, collaborated as assistant conductor, and also assumed the presidency of the Fundación Filarmónica de Santander (Santander Philharmonic Foundation).

In 2013 he became the principal conductor of the Camerata Filarmónica de Santander (Philharmonic Camerata of Santander) with which he performed concerts on different stages of the city such as the Centro Cultural del Oriente (Cultural Center of the East) and the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo (Luis A. Calvo Auditorium) within the framework of the International Piano Festival of the UIS.

He participated in various workshops for conducting orchestras and symphonic bands with the Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia (National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia), the Filarmónica de Bogotá (Philharmonic of Bogotá), the Banda Sinfónica de Cundinamarca (Symphonic Band of Cundinamarca), the United Strings of Europe in France, the Orchestra of Serbian National Theater with Mikhail Sinkevich and the St. Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra in Russia. He also performed as a guest conductor with the Collegium Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (National University of Colombia), with the Banda Sinfónica de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Symphonic Band of the National University of Colombia) at the Auditorio León de Greiff (León de Greiff Auditorium), with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Antioquia (Antioquia Symphonic Orchestra), the Bad Reichenhaller Philarmoniker in Germany, the Chamber Orchestra of Rimini in Italy and the St. Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra in Russia. Furthermore, he has been the assistant conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tocancipa (Symphonic Orchestra of Tocancipa), and the conductor of the String Orchestra of Guatavita.

He completed his Diploma in musical composition with professor Blas Emilio Atehortua, in pedagogy of violin and viola with professor Irina Litvin and in conducting of musical bands at an advanced level at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (National Pedagogical University) with the professors Andrés Rozo and Frank de Vuyst. He participated in the third musical residence Vienna - Eje Cafetero in the advanced course of conducting with the professors Werner Hackl, Reinhold Rieger, Alexander Steinberger, and Lisa Gonnella.

In 2015 he entered the Master program in Symphonic Conducting at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (National University of Colombia) as a student of professor Guerassim Voronkov. In 2017 he was again invited to conduct the St. Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra in Russia, with which he performed his graduation concert for his Master in Symphonic Conducting.

He studied conducting at the Konservatorium für Musik und dramatische Kunst in Vienna and at the  Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. He is currently studying for a master`s degree in conducting at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria. He currently is conductor of the Philharmonic Camerata Orchestra of Bogotá, the Kammermusik Orchester Wien (Chamber Orchestra of Vienna and the Wienerwald Choir in Vienna Austria.

At the same time he participates as a singer in several choirs like the Wiener Männergesangverein, Janaçek Chor, Coro Novo Mundo and the Consortium Musicum Wien. As a violinist he performs in the Philharmonisches Orchester der Universität Wien (Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Vienna) and the Iberoamerikanisches Orchester Wien (Iberoamerican Orchestra of Vienna). In the context of his activities as conductor, violinist and singer, he has performed in different halls, museums and emblematic places in the city of Vienna, such as the Musikverein, Haus der Musik, Burgarten, Volksgarten, Schloss Schönbrunn, Großer Festsaal at the Universität Wien (University of Vienna) and the Wiener Rathaus.
